While researching instances of cameras exposed to radiation during my PhD, I spent a long time combing through the media archive of the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) which contains a vast repository of video from the investigations and attempted clean-up of the Fukushima plant. I quickly became fascinated by the videos from the interior of the Primary Containment Vessel in Reactor 2.
Following the completion of the PhD I decided to write something about this archive and its relation with (in)visibility. That essay has just been published as part of a special issue on online journal Continent on Apocryphal Technologies. It is available here:
